Introduction:
1. So, who paid more attention to the way you walk this past week? • Walk = how you live and conduct yourself.
• Reviewing how we walk from chapter four of Ephesians.
"Therefore" = back to Ephesians 4:32
The command that opens chapter five: BE imitators of God (Eph. 5:1) Be a MIMIC!
• When kids mimic their parents (Video) •A mimic copies the characteristics of another person.
L.) Walk In Love! (vs. 2)
A. We are "beloved" children! This is how we start to walk in love. Realize how dearly we are loved.
• Beloved = unconditional, unwavering •1 John 4:7-12
B. The Key components of God's love
Christ's death is the highest possible expression of God's love. •Agape = Divine, unconditional, selfless, sacrificial,
Seeking the best for whoever is the object •Concerned for you. John 13:12-16, 1 Cor. 6:19,20
C. If 1 were to ask the people you are around most: Does he/she exhibit love? What would they say?
I.) Walk In Light!
A. There are basically (2) types of people: 1. Springers, 2 Snoozers (Eph. 5:14), Eph. 5:8
• Darkness is creeping back in! WAKE UP!
B. Three areas we need to wake up to: 1. Sexual immorality WAKE UP! (Vs. 3) •" In all it's forms.
Greed WAKE UP! (Vs.3) •"I can only be satisfied if I have this!" = IDOLATRY
Obscenity/Foolish talk/Course talking WAKE UP! •"All that we owe to God", "Thankfulness"
I.) Walk In Wisdom! (vs. 15)
"Be careful", "very careful"! •Psalm 90:12 "number" •Lord, teach us to live like our days are numbered!
Make the best use of time!
Be filled with the Holy Spirit! •Greek = keep on being filled •It's the Lord's will!
